How to get more clients through your website

Do you have a website that underperforms?

I hear from a lot of people, that they got online because they knew they had to have some sort of online presence, on top of their social channels.

It’s true that a website is one of the first credibility factors you need as a service-based business. I know that whenever I search for a business, I go check out their website, and if there isn’t one, well I tend to doubt the legitimacy of the business. Do you do the same?

I’m pretty sure your ideal clients will do this too.

If you’ve put a website together quickly or paid for a ‘that’ll do site’ it’s possible that you’ve created a bit of an inconsistent experience for visitors. The outcome, the site underperforms, gets no inquiries and your left feeling pretty frustrated, (especially if you’ve spent a lot of time on it).

A website can be a really powerful business tool. It’s not just about pages and pictures. It’s about reassuring your potential clients that, you know what your doing, and builds connections.

Here are my top tips for improving your website to cultivate that connection with potential clients and get more people reaching out to you.

1. Make sure they know what you do!

Nobody will want to book a call with you or send an email if it’s unclear what your services are.

Make sure you’re not bombarding them with too much information. You need to be clear enough so that they understand how you help, and highlight the benefits of reaching out to you.

2. Have a clear call-to-action on your website

What action do you want them to take? Send an email? Book a call? Complete an application?

There’s no wrong answer here, but this is one of the key roles of a website for a service based business - to get potential clients making inquires.

When you use this to your advantage you’ll get more people getting in touch!

  • Make sure it’s easy and obvious how to get in touch with you

  • Make sure you’re asking them to do only one thing at a time

  • Make the booking process simple and straightforward and branded. At the very basic level, it needs to be mobile responsive and not glitchy!

3. Ensure your brand is threaded through the entire experience

It’s one thing to have a site looking great but the whole point of it is to represent your business online and support your business growth.

Make sure you’re site isn’t just one of many following a popular trend. You want to use your brand’s personality to be threaded throughout. The value of your service needs to be made crystal clear and create a certain level of desire.

(this is what I help my clients to do. We start with laying out the strategy and ensure that people who visit - are inspired to take action and get in touch.

If your website underperforms or if you don’t seem to be getting any inquires (at least not from people who are ready to buy) you need to consider their experience. This is what I focus on with my holistic brand and website services.
